I spotted these Gew Gaws along highway 400 driving across Kansas back in 2005. I pulled off the road and drove back to investigate and what I found was a truly original artist from the "heartland." These sculptures are handmade by a man named M.T. Liggett whom I also met there that day and I was happy to have the chance to photograph him. He also had a most impressive collection of coffee mugs shown here also. The subjects of his sculpture range from the whimsical to the politically populist. I was really blown away by this roadside folk art and thought to share it here.
